2008 Spring Green Waste Collection

Council will be conducting a green waste collection at the same time as the 2008 Spring Clean Up

The service will be user pays and similar in style to the current Half Yearly Cleanups. Residents will be able to arrange for collection of up to 2 cubic metres (approximately 2 trailer loads) of organic garden waste for a service fee of $24 (incl GST). The service will run at the same time as the 2008 Spring Clean Up.

N.B. Green waste items must be out for collection the Sunday before the scheduled collection week.

• Only one collection per residence.
• Material must not exceed 2 cubic metres (approx 2 level standard box trailer loads).
• Materials must be organic, less than 200mm in diameter, no longer than 1800mm in length with small pieces bundled together in packages capable of being lifted by two people.
• No wet, putrid or food wastes will be collected.
• It is preferred that sisal type (organic) twine is used for bundles (available at hardware stores).
• Leaves and grass clippings must be contained in reusable bags that will be returned to the frontage for next time.
• Bags to be left open. Tied/closed bags will not be collected.
• Wire must not be used to bundle material.
• Material to be placed as close to the kerb as possible – must not obstruct traffic or pedestrians.
• In the interest of safety and hygiene, these conditions will be strictly enforced.

Further details are available by telephoning the Resource Recovery Centre (RRC), 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, on 4868 0555.

The service is only available to residents who have a council domestic waste collection.
Reusable bags are available – limit 3 per customer for free, additional bags 50 cents each – call the RRC for information.
Residents are encouraged to co-operate with neighbours and pool materials to make collections more cost effective – limit of 2 cubic metres will still apply.
